Marilyn Izdebski is a Dance and Theater Arts teacher and musical theater producer beloved by a generation of Marin audiences, students and their families. Marilyn treats students as young adults and teaches them responsibility for themselves and for their fellow cast members. She leads and encourages her students to exceed their own expectations.
Marilyn opened her own dance and theatre studio in Marin County in 1978 after studies and travel in Europe and six years of teaching, directing, and performing in San Francisco, She also taught Musical Theater at Ross School for 22 years.
Since her first full scale children’s production—“Oliver” in 1979—Marilyn has presented over 80 children’s productions involving many thousands of Marin’s young people.
Marilyn has also directed, choreographed, taught and performed with The Mountain Play Association, the Ross Valley Players, the Marin Theatre Company, and Novato Theater Company.
Inspired by the film “The Red Shoes” Marilyn started dance lessons at age three. At fifteen, she began professional performances in the Los Angeles area. She graduated Cum Laude from UCLA’s Theater Arts Department. She later studied theater in U.C. Berkeley’s Ph.D. program and acting under the renowned teacher Jean Shelton.
