When one thinks of Ireland, all sorts of images come to mind; from the stunning green of the fields, to the warmth of the people and, even more, their love of art and music.  From the small neighborhood pubs to the grand cathedrals, the Irish people love to fill their world with music.

It was this mutual love of music that brought the Mayflower Chorus to Ireland, on a journey to share the joys of singing together with Irish.

In April 2013 the Mayflower Chorus embarked on its third musical exchange adventure abroad to Ireland, visiting Galway and Dublin.  The chorus performed friendship concerts, provided music for a church service and sang in two concerts for the public at the Galway Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin.  The chorus performed in a friendship concert to benefit the Bray Cancer Support Center located in Wicklow.  The center has provided cancer support services and facilities free of charge to people affected by cancer in the greater Bray, South Dublin and Leinster areas for over 20 years.

The guided itinerary included a trip to the spectacular Cliffs of Moher near Galway,  a guided panoramic tour of Connemara, a land of lakes, rivers, bogs and mountains, a mediaeval banquet in a castle built in the 1500’s, farewell dinner at the Merry Ploughboy Inn in Dublin, and of course a stop at the Guinness Brewery to enjoy yet another of Ireland’s many gifts to the world.

The chorus, led by Argentinean-born director Daniel Canosa, continued its tradition of sharing American music to promote friendship and understanding through the universal language of song.
